Flux 8.5.1 brings together our next set of training and reliability improvements: five ways to manage strength periodisation, easier-to-navigate routines and a workout completion flow that does not wait for an internet connection after saving on your device.
It also introduces a simpler way to get started: download Flux free, try every feature for 14 days and choose a single Lifetime Unlock if you want to keep Full Access after the trial.
What's new
Train with a bigger plan. Finish every session with confidence.
Flux 8.5.1 brings advanced strength periodisation, offline-first workout saving and a clearer view of your training from start to finish.
FIVE WAYS TO BUILD YOUR TRAINING
Choose a periodisation model when generating a strength routine:
- Adaptive Block — phases shaped by your goals, experience, completed training and recovery.
- Daily Undulating (DUP) — Heavy and Volume work across your strength routine, with Moderate sessions where appropriate.
- Linear — a structured six-week path from Volume through Build and Heavy work to Deload.
- Weekly Undulating (WUP) — planned waves of Volume, Moderate and Heavy training, followed by recovery.
- Manual — choose your training phase and hold it until you decide to change it, with safety recovery when needed.
Model-aware sets, reps, load, rest and effort targets bring the plan into each strength workout. Managed progression follows completed training, with safety deloads when recovery needs attention. To change models, generate a new routine. Routine Library programmes keep their authored progression.
NO WI-FI? YOUR WORKOUT STILL COUNTS
Finish without waiting for a cloud connection. Your workout and final feedback are saved on your device, and completion confirms after a successful local save. Signed-in cloud backup can sync later when the app has connectivity.
A CLEARER, MORE CONNECTED DESIGN
Redesigned Routine Details brings workouts and progress into Overview, training controls into Settings, and instructions for supported saved programmes into Guide. Clearer phase and cycle displays help you see where you are and what's next.
MORE INSIGHT. FEWER INTERRUPTIONS.
- See your training phase and status together across the app and widgets.
- Explore clearer planned muscle-volume views for each Routine Library phase.
- Browse further back through your exercise history.
- Enjoy more reliable Lock Screen and Dynamic Island timers, better interrupted-workout recovery and improved layouts for iPhone, iPad and larger text.
- Apple Health stays optional, with clearer permission choices.
TRY EVERYTHING. UNLOCK IT FOR LIFE.
Try every feature free for 14 days with no payment, subscription or automatic charge. After the trial, one Lifetime Unlock purchase gives permanent Full Access. Eligible existing paid owners retain permanent access.
Choose how your strength routine progresses
When you generate a strength routine, choose the model that suits how you want to train:
- Adaptive Block responds to completed training and recovery, moving through the phases appropriate to your goal and experience.
- Daily Undulating (DUP) varies the emphasis between Heavy, Volume and, where appropriate, Moderate work across your strength workouts.
- Linear follows a planned progression from higher-rep weeks towards heavier work before a Deload.
- Weekly Undulating (WUP) changes the shared emphasis of your strength workouts from week to week.
- Manual keeps the eligible phase you choose until you change it, apart from temporary safety recovery.
Your routine keeps its model. Existing generated routines retain their saved training position through the Adaptive Block migration; choosing a different model means generating a new routine. Authored Routine Library programmes retain their own progression, and HIIT workouts keep their timed prescription. Adaptive workout adjustments remain a separate control.
See the plan without hunting for it
Routine Details opens on Overview for your workouts and progress. Settings groups the controls available for that routine, while saved programmes with an available template also have a Guide for their instructions.
Adaptive Block shows individual planned cycles, including current, paused and extended positions. The phase sequence reflects your goal and experience. Training Phase & Status keeps the routine's phase and your training status together, and Exercise Details can load older completed-workout records as you browse your history.
Finish your workout when Wi-Fi is down
A successful local save is now the completion screen's finish line. Feedback and routine updates are saved on the device before the screen confirms completion; cloud acknowledgement no longer keeps the tick spinning.
If the local save itself fails, Flux explains the problem and offers a retry without repeating completion processing. Signed-in cloud backup uses the existing sync path when connectivity is available. This is not a promise of immediate upload while the app is closed or suspended, and local storage is not a replacement for a completed cloud backup.
Your Health choices stay yours
Apple Health is optional. Clearer wording explains that Continue opens Apple's permission sheet, where you choose what to share. Flux does not treat finishing that sheet as proof that every permission was granted, and normal Health Insights refreshes do not trigger a new permission request.
You can continue using Flux without sharing Health data; features that depend on that data show only what is available.
A trial without an automatic charge
The 14-day Full Access trial requires no payment and does not start a subscription. After it expires, training features require a single Lifetime Unlock purchase; there is no ongoing free training tier or recurring charge. Apple shows the price for your storefront before you confirm.
Eligible existing paid owners and recognised historical purchasers retain permanent Full Access. The purchase and restore paths remain inside Flux; an App Store promotional tile is not required.
Download Flux, choose your routine and make your next session count.
