What’s new in Flux Workouts 8.2.2
Plate Calculator: see exactly what to load on the bar
If you’ve ever stood in front of a barbell doing mental maths while everyone else is training, this one’s for you.
Flux Workouts 8.2.2 introduces a per-gym weight plate inventory and a live “Plates per side” line on the active exercise screen. During barbell, Smith machine, trap bar, and EZ bar work, Flux tells you which plates to put on each side of the bar — based on the target weight and the plates you actually own.
How it works:
- Each gym profile stores its own plate inventory — separate kg and lb sets, because a 20 kg plate and a 45 lb plate are not the same thing.
- One shared set of plates covers every bar-loaded implement at that location (barbell, Smith, trap bar, EZ bar).
- Flux provides a sensible starter set for existing users on update, so you can tweak counts rather than start from scratch.
- The breakdown updates live as you adjust working weight during a set.
Where to set it up:
- Profile > Locations > [your gym] > Weight Plates
- Also available during onboarding when you set up your first gym.
Example: Target weight 100 kg on a 20 kg bar? Flux might show something like 20kg × 2, 10kg, 5kg per side — so you can load the bar and get on with the lift.
This is display guidance in v8.2.2: your routine prescriptions and progression logic stay the same. We’re just removing the guesswork at the rack.
Goal Setter widget: a countdown on your dashboard
Training goals work better when you can see them every day.
The new Goal Setter dashboard widget gives you a simple day countdown to any target you care about — a meet, a holiday, a programme block, or just “summer shred.”
- Name your goal (e.g. “Half marathon” or “Cut phase done”).
- Set a target date, or enter days from today.
- A progress bar counts down from the day you created the goal to your target date.
- Tap the widget to edit or delete.
Add it from your Dashboard widget picker. It syncs with your Flux account so your goal follows you across devices.
Custom KPI widget: track the metric that matters to you
Not everyone cares about the same number. The new Custom KPI dashboard widget lets you pin one metric you actually want to watch — with an optional second metric for comparison.
Workout metrics:
- Volume lifted
- Sets
- Hours worked out
- Personal bests (PBs)
- Workouts completed
Apple Health metrics (when HealthKit is enabled):
- Resting heart rate
- HRV
- Body weight
- Lean body mass
- Body fat %
- VO₂ max
- Sleep hours
Pick a timeframe (week through all time), and optionally enable a dual-axis compare chart — for example, volume lifted vs sleep hours over the last month.
Configure it from the Dashboard: add the Custom KPI widget, choose your metrics, and Flux handles the rest.
Revamped Insights: clearer charts, more timeframes
Insights got a proper refresh in 8.2.2.
- A shared timeframe selector now drives every chart across the Insights tabs — week, month, 3 months, 6 months, year, all time, or a custom range.
- New trend cards and coverage/consistency charts help you see whether you’re showing up, hitting targets, and spreading volume sensibly.
- Dashboard and Insights now read from the same reporting source for shared 7-day training data, so your numbers match whether you’re glancing at the Dashboard or diving into Insights.
If you train with data, this is the update that makes Insights feel like one coherent view of your training — not a collection of separate screens.
Redesigned Locations page: easier gym setup
Setting up where you train is cleaner in Flux Workouts 8.2.2.
When you edit a gym in Profile → Locations, you now get dedicated pushed screens for:
- Core Equipment — what you have and equipment-specific weight settings
- Weight Plates — your plate inventory for bar-loaded work
- Attachments & Accessories — cables, bands, and specialty kit that unlock exercise variations
Less scrolling through one long form. Faster edits when you’re setting up a home gym, a commercial gym, or a travel location.
This ties directly into the plate calculator: set your plates once per location, and Flux uses them every time you train there.
Fixes and polish in 8.2.2
Alongside the headline features, we shipped fixes that came up in real workouts:
- Rest timer: stays visible when you pre-edit the next exercise, so you can adjust weight or reps without losing track of rest.
- Exercise swaps: more reliable when changing equipment or location mid-routine.
- Fatigue chart ordering: muscles now display in a consistent, sensible order in Insights.
- HIIT reordering: fixing routine day reorder so standard splits (Push/Pull/Legs, Upper/Lower, Full Body) are no longer mislabelled as Hybrid — a bug that could incorrectly Pro-lock free-tier routines after reordering.
Small fixes, but they add up when you’re mid-session and just want the app to stay out of your way.

Frequently asked questions
What is Flux Workouts v8.2.2?
Flux Workouts v8.2.2 is the May 2026 iOS release of the Flux Workouts strength-training app. It adds a plate calculator, Goal Setter and Custom KPI dashboard widgets, revamped Insights, a redesigned Locations page, and several workout UX fixes.
Does the plate calculator change my prescribed weights?
No. In v8.2.2 the plate breakdown is display-only. Flux still prescribes the same target weights from your routine and progression settings; it just shows which plates to load to reach that weight.
Where do I set my plate inventory?
Go to Profile → Locations, open a gym, then tap Weight Plates. You can edit kg and lb inventories separately and add custom plate denominations.
Which exercises show “Plates per side”?
Barbell, Smith machine, trap bar, and EZ bar exercises with a target weight above the empty bar weight, when your gym has a plate inventory configured.
Is the Goal Setter widget free?
Yes. The Goal Setter countdown widget is available on the free tier.
What metrics can the Custom KPI widget track?
Workout metrics include volume lifted, sets, hours worked out, PBs, and workout count. Health metrics include resting heart rate, HRV, body weight, lean body mass, body fat %, VO₂ max, and sleep hours (requires Apple Health permission).
Do I need Flux Pro for Insights?
Some Insights sections show preview data when Pro is locked; full training performance metrics require Pro. Chart timeframe selection and the Insights refresh apply to all users.
How do I send feedback?
